Created in April 2020, DCAER's Helping Paws Medical Relief Fund is a non-profit veterinary charity organization that partners with the Veterinary Care Foundation to offer grants to qualifying pets, Good Samaritan’s and rescue groups who have met the criteria for financial hardship.
We offer payment plans through Scratch Pay and Care Credit, accept every single major credit or debit card, and take donations from family or friends via PayPal to help cover the costs involved in a veterinary crisis. Sometimes, that’s still not enough and pet parents as well as rescue groups need additional help. Grants may be offered for pets in need of life-saving care where the family is in financial distress, victims of natural disasters, pets without families and local animal rescue organizations that are helping neglected/abused animals.
Our sole focus is to help as many animals as possible and never let economic hardship impact emergency veterinary care for all animals.
In order to qualify for a grant:
cases must be an emergency and the animal must have a fair to good prognosis without fatal injuries or unrecoverable symptoms.
There must be a financial need
All parties involved must apply for CareCredit and ScratchPay first. If approved, the full limit(s) must be used before additional financial aid is applied.
You can only qualify once a year.
Our veterinary charity makes sure that ALL funds collected go directly to the patients who need it the most. DCAER will match funds in special circumstances.
We cannot do this alone so please consider donating to those in Denton County and the surrounding areas who are less fortunate and those “forgotten” animals in our shelters.
